Having regard to the heavy expenditure incurred in making arrangements for sending them to England, and having regard to the exceptional and distressing circumstances of the case, I trust that Your Lordship will approve of a grant to meet this expenditure from the Colonial Treasury. I have not yet made any proposal to the Legislative Council, but from the individual opinions of the Members I feel assured that the vote suggested would be readily found.

And inasmuch as arrangements will have to be made for the departure of the family before Your Lordship's decision on this matter could be ascertained in the ordinary course of the Post, I would suggest that I may be apprised by Telegraph whether I may apply to the Council for the vote to which I have referred.
